Today, I’m thankful for friends both old and new. Friends that I’ve been privileged to walk with for more years, and others that are newer, but our hearts and lives are now intertwined on this amazing journey through life.
What a blessing to have friends that are willing to hold my feet to the fire at times and at other times simply sit by the fire and fellowship.
As iron sharpens iron, that’s what I love about my friends. Each of us desiring to walk humbly with God and all the while moving in rhythm and harmony like a set of knitting needles.
That’s the beauty of friendship, the knitting together of hearts in love. Each of us different and yet woven together for one purpose. The beauty of friendship is in the giving of ourselves to one another, of giving a word of encouragement or an act of kindness. The world can be a cold and harsh place. I'm thankful for friends who chose to be a blessing.
And I love seeing the beauty of new friendships being created here through our Thankful Thursday community. We are knitting (linking) our blogs and hearts together through gratitude. We're sharing in each others joys, sorrows, victories and challenges.
My dear friend, Ann Voskamp, posted these beautiful words on Facebook Wednesday.
The Gift of Friendship
...we all just need people we can turn to & be real & messy & honest & say to each other:
By His grace alone,
I offer you the gift of gritty & raw friendship:
To accept you & affirm you.
To believe in you & be there for you.
To support God's dreams for you & support your arms.
To give you the gift of knees in prayer.
To give you the gift of hands in help.
To give you the gift of heart in friendship.
I offer you the gift of being your Jonathan, your Barnabas, your Ruth,
by the grace of Jesus alone.
