I know I've all but disappeared from my blog. I can't blame you dear bloggy friends for looking for greener pastures.
I want to share with you WHY I've been silent here at Marsha's Musings. I've actually been doing a lot of musing. I'm working on writing a book! My fingers have been burning up the keyboard on this laptop of mine.
Next week I'll be going to Proverbs 31 Ministries She Speaks Conference in Charlotte, NC. While there, I'll be learning how to improve my writing skills, become a better communicator and meet with 2 book publishers.
I've been writing through the eyes of a mentor, counselor, woman who desperately needed some advice BEFORE I got married. Now it's your turn. What advice do you wish you'd known before you got married? Please leave a comment or send an email to marshasmusings@gmail.com.
Here's a brief description of my proposed book, better known as my 30 second Elevator Pitch. LOL
The path to oneness is strewn with dirty dishes, hectic schedules, and bad advice. “Advice I Wish I’d Known BEFORE I Got Married” is for women who are struggling to navigate the rocky path to oneness with their husbands. Using the acronym TIPS, women receive practical, bite-sized advice in how to take the stumbling blocks in their marriages and transform them into stepping stones towards a grace filled home.
"What does TIPS stand for?"
I'm so glad you asked!
Each bite sized chapter (2,000 words or under, more like reading a magazine article) will include:
Transforming the Rock (naming what rock on the path we're stumbling over and allowing God to chisel it into something useful)
Inspirational Women Walking the Path (testimonies of women who have been there, done that, got the t-shirt)
Practical Advice (Practice! Practice! Practice!) (putting a plan into action)
Simply Grace (Extending grace to your spouse as God has extended it to you. Short, one page for further study on your own, with a group or mentor)
Faith
Family
Filters
Finances
Frustrations & Failures
Physical
ALSO, I'll be looking for women willing to take a short marriage survey. Leave a comment or email me at marshasmusings@gmail.com if you'd like to participate.

I'd be interested in reading this book...BEFORE I get married! Haha!
Can I just say that, in my own mind, the title: "Advice I Wish I'd Been Given BEFORE I Got Married"? flows more sensibly? It could just be my way of wordage! (Like that sentence right there..."wordage"?)
:) Everly
Congratulations Marsha! I wish I was going to the conference! I'm not "THAT" far from Charlotte.
I think your book is definitely needed.
I wish I had known (22 years ago): 1. My husband can't meet all of my needs. God can, he can't. 2. I wish I had known not to grumble against my husband's family. Take it God in prayer and hold my tongue.
I pray you learn a LOT at the conference Marsha!
Love!
Beth
How exciting to be going to She Speaks. I'm sure you'll learn much and also be encouraged in your writing. So glad you are writing a book.
As far as marriage advice, I have a few bits of it:
Marriage is hard; it takes work.
Give your husband respect. Look for things you can respect about him and tell him so. Men love to hear it.
I agree with what Beth wrote about your husband's family; lol but true.
Blessings and love,
Debbie
Great advice, ladies! If you think of more, add them to the comments.
Everly, that was actually my original title, but my writing coach suggested it was to past tense and suggested Known instead. I'm still not completely comfortable with it, but truth be known, a publisher will more than likely suggest titles or just flat out rename it.
Hmmm- Marriage takes work, compromise is OK- it doesn't mean you're giving in, pick your battles-life is too short to sweat the small stuff, having children is not the key to 'saving' a marriage, I know I have more, must need more coffee =)
I agree with you and Everly on your original title. It seems if you were to go with Known, then What I wish I had known, because the words advice and give go together. Am I making any sense? Think I need more coffee... lol
So glad I got to meet you and I think your book is a wonderful idea!
